Our Mission

The 3 Wishes Project is an end-of-life care initiative that began in the ICU at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Its goal is to honor patients’ lives and humanize the dying process by eliciting and fulfilling three simple, meaningful wishes from patients or their families. These wishes—such as playing a favorite song or creating a keepsake—help create comfort, dignity, and positive memories for both families and healthcare staff, fostering compassion and connection in critical care settings.

At UCSF Health our 3 Wishes Program aims to improve the end-of-life experience for patients, families, and clinicians by coming together as a team to identify and support opportunities to honor a patient’s life by creating small yet deeply meaningful experiences.
